No — basic Dutch health insurance does not cover preventive screening. Some supplemental policies offer up to about €250 per year; check your policy.
Yes. Choose a clinic with open MRI or wide-bore (70 cm), or ask about light sedation. Many clinics allow a companion beside the scanner.
For hospital care and insurance reimbursement yes. Many private clinics accept direct booking without referral (self-pay).
No. MRI uses no ionising radiation. There is exposure to magnetic fields and radiofrequency energy within strict safety limits (SAR).
Gradient coils switch rapidly and vibrate the scanner housing — it sounds like knocking or hammering. You will get earplugs or an MRI-safe headset.
